Most of us use some form of social media, whether it's to keep in touch with family and friends, express our opinions (both good and bad!), tweet our favourite celebrity or share the hilarious video we've just watched. In fact, social media has become so prevalent over recent years, that the 30th June has even been designated "Social Media Day".
A recent study conducted by Swift Research discovered 78% of the 1,477 people interviewed currently use Facebook whilst 53% and 50% use Twitter and LinkedIn respectively. Like it or loathe it, it seems social media is now part of a lot of people's everyday lives and it's no different for businesses.
Here at Swift Research, we've been gradually increasing our social media presence and, as our "likes" and "follows" continue to grow, we gain almost instant access to a large number of people, enabling us to both gather and share feedback quickly and efficiently.
Throughout last year, we've used social media to run numerous short opinion polls, an Easter drawing competition and celebrated national events. With the help of our Swift Insight bear, we've even got ourselves involved with some popular TV soap opera storylines and not forgetting, my personal favourite, Swiftie Bear taking part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge!
As well as being interesting and fun, social media provides a great way to show clients and respondents, both existing and potential, who we are and what we can do. It gives us the opportunity to showcase our services and facilities, such as Innervisions, our dedicated research suite and viewing facility.
When used responsibly social media can be a positive and rewarding experience for individuals and businesses alike, whether or not we all fully understand the social media language is another thing entirely! #TweetPokeLikeShare #ISecretlyDontGetIt
