Life as a Swift Research telephone interviewer

For over ten years now I have worked as a telephone interviewer at Swift Research. I started out working only a couple of evening shifts a week as a way of getting back into the work place after having children. However, I now work almost full-time, but not in the conventional way - my working hours are spread over days, evenings and weekends to suit my life and my family.

Most of the day-to-day work is based at the call centre in Wetherby where Swift run a wide variety of projects including police satisfaction surveys, business to business research, recruiting participants for field projects and mystery shopping.

In addition to the telephone work, over the years I've had the opportunity to get involved in many other tasks from washing flannels for laundry fragrance tests and chauffeuring clients around, to counting shoppers on a street in Doncaster and timing people brushing their teeth!

I can honestly say that some days I don't know what I will be doing from hour to hour, let alone day to day - I once arrived at Swift expecting to spend the evening in the call centre, only to find myself driving to Newcastle to deliver yoghurts!

The way we work means that people come and go, some use the work as a top-up to their day job, students drop in and out to fit in with their studies, whilst for others it's a full time job.

For me and many others who have worked at Swift Research over the years, the variety of the work combined with the fantastic flexibility offered by the role, makes it a great place to achieve an ideal life / work balance.
